What is a Siobhan Magnus tattoo

Siobhan Magnus was one of the top contestants during American Idol’s ninth season. So, exactly what is a Siobhan Magnus tattoo? This is simply how people refer to the tattoo Siobhan has on her right shoulder. It is a tattoo to honor the late Edward Gorey, an American author and illustrator of books for both children and adults.

The tattoo was taken from the picture located on the cover of the book titled ‘The Gashlycrumb Tinies’. This book is an alphabet book that uses 26 kids to explain each letter of the alphabet. Each child meets with an unfortunate demise in the book, which may seem rather dark and sinister, but this was Gorey’s style. For example, the book starts off with:

‘A is for Amy, who fell down the stairs’. This sentence is accompanied with an illustration of a little girl falling head first down a flight of stairs with her arms stretched out to each side. Each letter of the alphabet is introduced in the same manner, all the way from A to Z. Gorey always uses dark colors, which give a gothic feel to his illustrations.

Edward Gorey was a favorite author of Siobhan’s mother and he also lived nearby the family, giving Siobhan the opportunity to be more familiar with his works. Besides the Edward Gorey tattoo, she also has a couple of others.

However, it’s the tattoo created after the cover of the book about the Tinies that has the public talking.

Not many people know of Gorey’s work. Some possibly have seen a few of his illustrations, but probably weren’t aware that they were drawn by Edward Gorey. Siobhan’s tattoo has definitely brought about a lot more awareness and even created more fans who will find they enjoy much of Gorey’s work.

You no longer have to wonder; what is a Siobhan Magnus tattoo.

What is Danica Patrick’s tattoo

Danica Patrick has been in the public eye since she was first named Rookie of the Year for the 2005 IndyCar Series and the 2005 Indianapolis 500. She wrote an autobiography in 2006 and won the 2008 Indy Japan 300, making her the first female to every win an Indy race. After being in a few photo shoots, people noticed her tattoo located on the small of her back and asked; what is Danica Patrick’s tattoo of?

When asked about her tattoo, Danica stated that is was a combination of the checkered flag and the American flag. The left portion is the American flag and the right is the checkered flag. It started as a fairly small tattoo; not taking up much space on her lower back. Since the initial photo shoots, Danica has made some additions to her flag tattoo.
Angel wings have been added to each side of the flag, with one being placed on either side. The wings extend a bit above and below the flag and seem to gently cradle the flag. There is a yellow star positioned right between the lower portions of the wings, at the base of the flag. A single yellow star is also placed at the top of the right wing, with a smaller one semi-covered by the upper portion of the right wing. All three stars are completely filled in with a pale yellow color.

Before the wings and stars were added, Danica’s tattoo was still noticeable enough that Sports Illustrated felt the need to remove it for the SI photo shoot in 2009. They airbrushed it right out of each picture where Danica’s lower back was visible. SI claimed that the photos were all about natural beauty, so the tattoo had to go.
So what is Danica Patrick’s tattoo today? Supposedly it still consists of the flag, wings, and stars.
